How does fuel tank sealing work?
Tank sealing involves cleaning the inside of a fuel tank, removing rust, and then coating the interior with a chemical sealant. This forms a permanent, fuel-resistant protective layer that prevents further rust and corrosion. The Restom® 3-in-1 kit contains all three components needed for this process.
Which tanks are compatible with Restom® tank sealing products?
Restom® products are suitable for motorcycle fuel tanks, car fuel tanks, tractor tanks, classic and vintage vehicle tanks, and commercial vehicle tanks. They are compatible with petrol, diesel, E10 and E85.
Can a heavily rusted tank still be saved?
In most cases, yes – provided the tank is still structurally intact with no holes or cracks. For severe rust, we recommend combining mechanical pre-treatment (e.g. glass bead blasting) with chemical rust removal. We are happy to advise you by phone on the best approach for your specific tank.
How long does a Restom® tank sealing last?
When applied correctly according to the instructions, the coating can last many years – typically 10 years or more. Proper surface preparation and allowing sufficient drying time are essential for achieving maximum durability.
Do you offer a workshop service for tank restoration?
Yes. At our workshop in Grumbach near Dresden (Tharandter Str. 37), we offer professional tank de-rusting, tank sealing and glass bead blasting as a service. Contact us for a quote.
