Restom® SBF L-490 – Silicone Brake Fluid DOT 5 for Classic Vehicles (1 litre)

Seized wheel cylinders after the winter? Conventional glycol-based brake fluid absorbs water – which rusts inside the brake system. Restom® SBF L-490 is 100% silicone to DOT 5 and does not absorb moisture.

• ✔ Ideal for long standstill: wheel cylinders and seals stay intact
• ✔ Boiling point 260 °C – higher than DOT 4 (240 °C) and DOT 3 (230 °C)
• ✔ Replaces DOT 3 and DOT 4
• ✔ Dyed purple as a mark of authenticity, incl. identification label

Important: do not confuse

DOT 5 (silicone) is not DOT 5.1 – DOT 5.1 still contains glycol.

Converting to silicone

1. Drain the brake circuit completely.
2. Flush with methylated spirit and dry – residues of old fluid would otherwise continue to corrode.
3. Fill with SBF L-490 and bleed carefully.
4. Attach the enclosed label to the brake circuit.

Compatibility

• Suitable for ABS/ESP (bleed particularly carefully), clutch hydraulics and Citroën hydraulic systems (check LHM circuits separately).
• Check seals and cups for DOT 5 compatibility before converting – if in doubt, do an immersion test for at least 1 week.
